Spring is almost here. This means rain…sometimes in the form of storms. It looks like this: Big rain comes, power goes out during the storm or for a period of time thereafter. Water fills the drainage tile around your house and the sump basket in your house…without power there is no way to “sump” the water out..basement starts to fill with water. Whether you have a finished basement or not, you have a mess to clean up. A battery backup auxiliary sump pump, “kicks in” in this situation to remove the water in the same way your primary sump pump removes it. Notice that sump pumps don’t last forever either way, so the concept works the same way if your primary sump pump gives out even when the power is stable.
