It’s hard not to get excited about outdoor projects when the weather starts to warm up. Often its easy to get ahead of ourselves and start a big project without having a destination in mind. This leads to lack of funds, a half finished job and possibly re-doing the work later due to lack of planning. Here are three things to keep in mind when thinking of your project:
Budget – How much do you plan to spend on this improvement? Be realistic, telling us your budget will help us keep you closer to reality. Our goal is to not have to completely redesign when your “dreams do not match your reality”.
The Future – Will this project be able to be used by your family in 5 years, will future owners see it as an asset? If this is Part 1 of a larger initiative, how does it fit with future phases?
Design – Does this project compliment the flow of your existing space? Does it match the style of your home? Are you violating any setbacks or utility easements with your project?
A little planning can save a lot of time and money on your next project…
