Vanity and Shower - After

Our client wanted a Master Bathroom that felt updated with a timeless style. There is nothing worse than spending the money to update a space and feeling like you need to do it a again in a few years.

Vanity - Before

This is the bathroom we started with. Oak everything, a large tub, small shower, lots of door swings that were causing problems and a failing shower. There was enough space, I knew there was a more efficient way to to use it.

There was dark tile that was difficult to clean and dated lighting and trim. The thing we loved was the natural light and the potential of the space to be amazing.

Tub - Before

Since the tub was not used very often in this primary bathroom, the owners did not want to give up space for one in the new design. We advise clients to have 1 tub somewhere in the house.

The the issues with the current plan were all of the door swings, the tub that was taking up space and the shower was not what the owners wanted.

The new design gets rid of the door swing problem by using a sliding door to enter the bathroom, eliminating the door to the toilet room (owner's request) and switching the shower door swing. The space feels more spacious without the tub and the doors. The shower is also larger.

The cabinets take this bathroom to the next level. The splurge for inset cabinets provides a clean, classic and lux feel.

Space to store linens was important to the owner. To maximize the storage, the linen cabinet goes to the ceiling.

The shower was ok, but I knew we could do more with the extra space available in the new design.

The glass shower walls let the light into the entire space and make it feel much larger.

Tile - basket weave pattern

The use of a light colored tile, in a fun pattern, adds texture and changes the entire feel of the bathroom.

Paneling on the walls is a classic detail that adds more interest.

Black cabinet hardware, lighting and plumbing fixtures add contrast to the design.

A small ledge in the corner of the shower was added at the owner's request.

Shower Niche

Storage is a priority in a shower - a custom niche with 3 shelves is a 'must have'.

The blue of the Linen cabinet is repeated in the toilet room. Towel bars and robe hooks are also tucked into this space.

This bathroom feels bright, calming and a bit like a spa. Who wouldn't want to feel like they are visiting a spa every time they enter their bathroom?
